Lucia, Professor Edward F. Sr.

Eddie Lucia was born April 18, 1914 in Leonia, New Jersey. He was an assistant Professor of Physical and Health Education and Head Coach of Fencing at the City College of New York.

US Coach 1958 World Championships
Alternate US Olympic Coach for Melbourne 1956 and Tokyo 1964
US Pan American Games squad coach 1959 and 1963
At C.C.N.Y. he produced 4 Intercollegiate champions and 3 champion saber teams.
Coached the Salle Lucia women’s foil team to 2 US National championships and 3 US Individual titles.
Produced international champions in both men’s and women’s fencing
1963 he was nominated Director, US Olympic training camp
1964 he was named “Collegiate Fencing Coach of the Year.”
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the AFLA
Vice President of the National Fencing Coaches Association of America

Professor Lucia was honored on the cover of the January 1985 edition of American Fencing Magazine
